The Town Hall’s mission is to provide affordable world-class entertainment by new and established artists to a diverse audience; to inspire the youth of our community to appreciate and participate in the arts at The Town Hall and in schools through our Education Outreach Program; and to preserve and enhance The Town Hall as a historic landmark venue for the enjoyment and cultural enrichment of generations to come.
Originally founded in 1921, by suffragists, this national landmark has played host to countless cultural and musical milestones. Its vibrant, progressive, and diverse programming has solidified its status as an iconic New York City institution.
The auditorium’s intimate atmosphere, exceptional acoustics, and unobstructed views of the stage from any seat in the house make it a cherished destination for audiences and performers alike.
The Town Hall has welcomed Gilberto Gil, Joan Baez, Stephen Colbert, Ani DiFranco, Jack White, Patti Smith, Larry David, Tig Notaro, Garrison Keillor and NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion,” Ray LaMontagne, Ira Glass, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and some of the finest talents in stand-up comedy and dance.
Additionally, Town Hall hosts thousands of public-school students annually who participate in the Town Hall Educational Arts Outreach Program.
In the years to come, Town Hall will remain a vibrant public forum, providing a platform for expression, education, and exploration.
