The Town Hall Presents
with The Sinfonietta and Flor de Toloache
“Remember Me” Songwriters KRISTEN ANDERSON LOPEZ & BOBBY LOPEZ Will Introduce the Show
The Town Hall and The Sinfonietta will present Disney and Pixar’s Coco in Concert Live to Film, featuring the film’s musical score by Oscar® and GRAMMY®-winning composer Michael Giacchino performed live along to the film. The concert will be led by conductor Macy Schmidt.
Along with Giacchino’s original score, Coco features the hit song “Remember Me” by Oscar®-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus additional songs co-written by composer Germaine Franco and co-director and screenwriter Adrian Molina. The film won Academy Awards® for Animated Feature, as well as Original Song for “Remember Me.” It was directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist Monsters University) and produced by Darla K. Anderson (Toy Story 3).
Coco tells the story of Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez), a young boy who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt), despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music. Following a mysterious chain of events and desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. Along the way, he meets a charming trickster named Héctor (voice of Gael García Bernal) and together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
The presentation is licensed by Disney Concerts.
The Sinfonietta is an all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra and production company renowned for its diverse and innovative creative direction and dedication to musical excellence. The Sinfonietta’s inaugural NYC-based orchestra, The Broadway Sinfonietta, was founded in 2020 by Egyptian-American Orchestrator & Music Supervisor Macy Schmidt. Since teaming up with industry veteran Colleen McCormack to grow the company, the orchestra has performed with pop stars such as Renée Rapp, Brandy, and Jordin Sparks; in concert for feature films and live score events such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Cowboy Bebop, and Avatar: The Last Airbender; and onstage as featured soloists for the opening number of the 2023 Tony Awards.
Flor de Toloache is New York City’s first and only all-women Mariachi group. Named after a legendary flower still used in Mexico as a love potion, Flor de Toloache was founded in 2008 as a trio, harking back to the early days of mariachi, comprising harp, violin, and vihuela, a 15th-century fretted Spanish guitar-like string instrument. Their album Las Caras Lindas won the 2017 Latin Grammy for Best Ranchero album.
